Am i going too fast?

Im new to RM about 3months now and usually come in at 7am prep and out by 9.30am and finish bout 2pm. tuesdays 1pm
What is average finish time for most posties?
Am i going too fast, should i slow down and get O/T?

How long is a piece of string, eh? It depends on the duty structure etc, and most offices are entirely different.

Just walk / drive at a normal safe pace and don't read mail while you walk, or cut across people's lawns. That should mean you're working at the correct pace. (Don't forget also to try 3 further nearby addresses for every knock, if they're not home)

I wouldn't recommend walking sl...ooooo...wly just to get OT - that could lead to all sorts of trouble. If your place is anything like most offices I've worked in, there's usually work available on OT at the end of the day if you let them know you're up for it.

Start at your official start time
Take full meal relief
Work safely and carry out van checks
Walk at a reasonable pace
Use lwt

If you are not doing the above then you're going too fast.

Unfortunately during the revision, rounds were planned using a computer program that doesn't comply with the real world. In most cases, if you do the above you will never be able to complete a duty unless you incur a lot of overtime.

Oh yeah, I forgot another one - you're supposed to flick through and check all the mail for the next address before you start walking towards it.

That is to say, you stand at the doorstep of no 21 and check through all the mail of no 23 before you take another step. Once you get to no 23 do a quick doorstep flick-check of their mail before posting and then check through all of no 25's before taking another step from no 23.

If you complete your round tomorrow on time then I believe you are probably not following these rules!

I completed my round by 1pm today, i didnt rush but it was a light day.
As for job and knock, i did this job years ago for agency and cant believe just how much it has changed, they seem to want to squeeze every second out of you, im hopin that after xmas things will be better.

So you are part time, I'm guessing 25 hr contract?

come in at 7am

That's early for a part timer, I don't start til 9:30

out by 9.30am and finish bout 2pm.

That's 4.5 hrs, that's what the duties are meant to be (most of them), although most part timers I know struggle to finish on time.

You seem to do a lot of indoor work, are you covering for a full timer? Are you getting paid for going in early?

Im covering for a duty-holder at the moment so i come in and prep round from scratch.
Yes i get paid for all the hours i do, no way am i coming in early and working for nothing!
