Hi I need guidance here there is a new estate built on my walk and it wasn't on it when I signed for it 5 months ago. My rep told me that I had to just take it on and book if I have to.
I thought this wouldn't have been in the original budget so therefore I should have the option of getting paid extra for doing it IE growth of work or say I don't want to do it and let them pay someone else to do it?
Where do I stand??

Re: NEW ESTATE GROWTH OF WORK
You are paid to work your hours.
Cut off or bring it back unless you have time to do it in which case what's the problem?
Haven't you heard job and knock is long gone!

Re: NEW ESTATE GROWTH OF WORK
You don't need to argue with them. If you can't complete your walk in time you can't complete. As long as you advise them in advance there is nothing they can do.
Thousands of delivery staff are in the same position now with walks that are too large to complete on anything but the lightest of days. How you deal with it is up to you but you won't get any preferential treatment. Cut off or book it there is no third option unless you get the chance to sign for another walk!

Re: NEW ESTATE GROWTH OF WORK
I have a similar problem.
Recently one duty was made smaller because apparently it was to long and what was taken off the duty was added to my duty because apparently my duty was to short.According to the union this is called round growth. Now I am working past my finish time most days.
I am also in a situation where i have to argue with my boss.If I ask if I can work to my time he will say "you should be able to complete the duty on time" even though this is not possible after having almost a hundred houses added to my walk.
My union rep said do not go into work early because I do not know where I am if I go in early. But this is not easy when every one else in the office does go in early.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Does anyone have some advice?

Re: NEW ESTATE GROWTH OF WORK
Your rep is right if you start at odd times how are management supposed to keep track. Do the job as per the 318 then you have a valid case.
So? You work for RM, not your mates in the office. Start at the correct time, advise management before going out if you think you're unable to complete, then take your 20 or 30 min meal relief before going out (the remainder when out there), and come back 5-10mins before your finish time to pouch off.dave2000 wrote: But this is not easy when every one else in the office does go in early.
