Tracked parcel missing?

Delivered a tracked parcel a few weeks ago and now the customer is complaining they never received it. My manager has asked me what I did with it but I can't remember anything due to the fact it being 2 weeks ago since I delivered the parcel.

What is the procedure for This sort of thing happening?

I assume the track and trace says "Delivered"
Apparently they can tell where you scanned it. They have a thing called Blackbay.
It will give them the geographical location of the last scan.

Blackbay only works upto seven days after the scan.

Exactly what I said to my manager, but she just kept going on that I needed to remember because she doesn't want the police involved.

lol the Police are not going to get involved with a missing packet case. Never in a hundred million years. Is this a fraud case or a missing packet case? There is no fraud is there? A missing person and they might be interested. They will tell the customer to contact RM and the seller end of.

Do you do anything apart from hand the item over to someone? ie do you ever leave items in safe places or porches etc?

I always try to leave with a neighbour first and second I'll look for a safe secure place to leave the item and pop a card in to inform the customer where it is.

did this item have instructions printed on it explicity telling you where to leave it?

Looking for a safe place to leave things will land you in trouble when things go missing, unless it's a tracked with a specific safe place instruction you do not leave it unless correctly delivered

Just a few weeks ago we were told in WTL that it was perfectly ok to leave in safe places (of OUR choosing) and that he would back us up if anything went missing.

The reason. Need to up first time delivery.

They insist on 1st time delivery with tracked item's. If we bring any tracked back we have to fill in a form to say the reason why it wasn't left.

Well fill in the form, your job is to deliver it as per the product spec which means only leaving it in a safe place if specific instructions on the safe place box on the tracked it, anything other than that will get you into the trouble you are now in
