Sick Pay for New Entrants?

At my interview I was told that you get paid sick pay from day one but someone told me today that you don't get paid sick pay for 12 months.

I'm not planning on going off sick but I just wondered which was correct.

im 99.9 per cent sure you dont get sick pay until 12 months is completed but someone else will confirm if this is correct.

by law you are entitled to statutory sick pay (SSP) of £88 ish a week for up to 28 weeks, paid for by your employer. <---THIS IS THE LAW YOU HAVE TO BE PAID THIS!
It is not usually payable for the first 3 days of each sickness period. Royal Mail does not pay for the first 3 days of a sickness.


After 12 months service Royal Mail will enhance this by paying you your full weekly wage when you go sick. For up to 6 months in a rolling 4 year period then 1/2 pay for a further 6 months in that same 4 year period)

Supplements beyond your basic pay will stop after a time, but I'm not sure the details on that
