I was off 7 weeks ago with a diabetic issue,I have not had a welcome back interview will the sick still count

potentially yes, diabetes can be covered under the equalities act so the time off may be discounted for that anyway depending on if any reasonable adjustments have been agreed

as for lack of return to work interview it won't necessarily stop a stage warning being issued but makes a great case to fight a stage 3 dismissal showing that correct process has not been followed, beware though a return to work is not always a formal interview a simple hi welcome back and how are you feeling in passing may be considered your return to work by your dom (should be more than that but that's all he might fo)
