Taking unpaid holiday

My girlfriend was due to go on holiday for 2 weeks with her sister at the end of November but now has to go on her own so a £1000 holiday is up for grabs. I would never get the time off as holiday any time of the year at my office, let alone during christmas pressure, but is there any means of getting this time off, even if it's unpaid?

all you can do is ask, you have no more right to the time off being paid or unpaid, end of the day its down to the discretion of your dom either way, best chance you would get would be to swap annual leave with someone who is off at that time already, and if its crossing into the xmas pressure period your pretty much got no chance anyway

you might got a good chance due to not many people wanting a holiday in winter as it is too cold/expensive for christmas.

If you're on a permanent contract you stand a better chance of unpaid leave, no chance if on a temporary rolling contract.
