The correct way is to inform manager as soon as it becomes apparant to you that you won't be able to complete on time, regardless of before or after you go out

As part of your office revision all training records were checked about pda use, you will have signed to say you have been trained in their use, that training should have included the phone function, whether or not you were actually trained in that part you will have signed to say you were.....

Might be Vague! but its the correct answer.

If whilst your prepping , you can sense due to the mail volume on your frame and packets its going to be hard to complete, Inform your lino you might be bringing mail back. ( they can then make a call as to what you take out or procedure for clearing it.)

If you book out late and don't think you are going to be able to complete, again tell your lino for the same reasons.

If whilst you are on your walk you hit complications. ( Traffic/ Missorts) anything else that delays you. Ring your lino and let them know.

You have a finish time and no obligation to work beyond it. If you think that might be the case. Ring Your Lino and say your likely to cut off or go over.

To be fair , you should have a sense of how its going before you leave the office and be able to tell your Lino..

The use of your own phone is contentious, There is no requirement for you to use it to contact the office. and there is obviously provision through the PDA. but trying to get through to the office on a PDA is practically impossible.

As soon as you think you might not be able to complete you are required to tell your lino. This will most likely mean when you get your packet bags and see how many you have, how much mail you have in and what time you are at in the day. But it could also mean as you tie up or as you get to loop 7 and find the road is blocked and that delays you etc.

As to what happens that's up to the manager. So if they want you to take it out and bring back what you can't do or leave some in the frame that's up to them. If they want you to call and you have no phone they need to give you one.

all pdas can be used to make calls to the office, you can only call breakdown 999 or the office, every single pda has this function, if you think it can't then you obviously have not been trained how to use it properly

as for answering the question the correct answer is when you become aware, you may think that's vague but it is the correct answer as contained in the over running deliveries procedure, there is no cut off time in the peocedure

We had our revision some 2 years + ago now. We all use PDA's but to my knowledge neither me or anyone in my office has ever signed anything to say we have received training on them. I have also never seen or heard of a training record in my DO. There are roughly 80 staff in my DO.

Our WPC's regualrly ask me how to clear a PDA and many other things to do with their use - yet it's them that are supposed to train others - great system eh?

Zx is giving you the correct answer it is "AS SOON AS YOU BECOME AWARE" The trouble with that in the real world is that DOMs hate it. They always want you to see them before you have left the office. Ours tries to conduct anyone who calls after 1200 and even tries to conduct them if not informed before 10.00 am.

As for using the PDA phone facility, again our DOM does not want us using it, non of them have the battery life for that.
