You can lobby the PEC to vote no to the deal, i did this and got an email back and a phone call, so the more they get from reps and members the better:

"bombard the headquarters, leaders and the PEC with phone calls and emails (see addresses below) demanding they release the information they have on the deal’s content, and that they vote against.

• all postal workers who can, get down to the PEC on Monday 2 pm at Wimbledon and lobby the its members to make sure they vote against

• write to left PEC members Jane Loftus (SWP) and Pete Keenleyside (Labour) to ask them what they are doing to campaign against the deal and for continuation of the strike

good point! But since they only agreed after the court injunction came through, and since the postal exec will be in its third day of meeting tomorrow, its pretty certain that it is s**t. if it was good they would just ok it and show it to us. The pay deal is a joke and that has been confirmed in the media and the rest. Trials for flexibility mean that nine tenths will become the reality, whether trial or not. Once they are implemented they are facts on the ground that are very difficult to remove. We are strongest when we strike and we should get a complete final deal that does not giveaway jobs, pension rights for new starters, flexibility, a pay rise at least above inflation. The strikes are strong, the courts showed that the RM bosses (and all the bosses) are s**t scared of our power to shutdown the network, and whatever people think of the wildcats its clear that RM were terrified they would spread too. Why should we fritter away the huge backlog we created by stopping the strike? RM must be laughing their heads off. We should strike and present our ultimatum, not the other way around! :cfo :lfo

I am writing this as I am very frustrated at the way the PEC has dealt with its members, especially in the way you have dealt out information to us over the course of this dispute. Our local reps seem to get the information last that has to be cascaded down to us? And what I find an absolute disgrace is that the importance of this so called offer you wait approx 72 hours to discuss it while you have members out on strike. I know I speak for a lot of very pissed off posties out there, by the way that this has been handled by the PEC especially to give approx 5 hrs on Monday probably the same today and still haven’t given any guidance to people out on unofficial I/A.
From the majority of people I have spoken to on royalmailchat.co.uk and my office they are very fed up with the way we have been left in the dark on all matters, and why once again when we had RM by the balls you didn’t capitalise on it.

According to our team brief on Monday, the deal is:

5.4% from Ocvtober 2007 to April 2008
1.5% from April 2008 to April 2009 "in return for pesnion reform, change and flexibility"

That is supposed to be 6.9% (5.4% + 1.5% = 6.9%) over 2 years, with the next pay review at April 2009

Plus a lump summof £175 as back pay to October, the 50:50 productivity scheme, and Colleague Shares "dividends"

What they want in return:

Later starts, and no more night duties in delivery offices
Adopt more flexible ways of working
Modernise, using new kit and machinery

Oh, and this is a corker:

"Help protect existing employees pensions by supporting pension reform"

In reality, the pay deal is:

Not 5.4%, as this is only for the 6 months between October and April 2008, which is just 2.7% over 12 months. So add 1.5% to 2.7%, means 4.2% over 2 years. Or 2.1% each year. RPI inflation was 4.6% very recently, so this is a pay cut.

£175 back pay is not 5.4% for April to October 2007. It is just 2.1% of £323 a week for 26 weeks. Do the maths. It is a quite striking fact.

The supposed 6.9% figure is spin, a lie, creative accounting.
