New Year days off in Scotland

Are we in Scotland being discriminated against and being robbed of a day off?
There is a USO exemption for the whole of the UK on saturday 26th december and we get the day off as well as the recognised public holiday on monday the 28th december.
There is a USO exemption for Scotland on saturday 2nd january and we get the day off, but we don't get the recognised public holiday on monday the 4th january. Instead the saturday is being designated by RM as our public holiday day.
Something doesn't seem right.

No we are not being robbed of a day off, everyone is getting an extra day at Christmas as a non service day and, both in England and Scotland, at new year down south only getting 1st off as normal and we in Scotland getting 1st and 2nd off as normal, if what you are suggesting is that the saturday at new year should also be a non service day that would be an extra day off for everyone if that had been applied for then yes scotland would be losing out but it wasn't so no day lost out

Why didn't they make saturday the 26th december as the UK wide public holiday then?
And if they applied for, and were granted, a USO exemption for saturday the 2nd january in Scotland, why did they not make it a non service day in Scotland, and give the monday as the public holiday which it is?

I have no idea but end of day you have not lost any time off that youvare entitled to over it, you have gained one non service day extra why should everyone be entitled to two extra days? Yes it would be desirable but you have not lost out on any time off if you don't get it

It is a bit strange, what RM are doing is designating Saturday 2nd January a Bank Holiday in Scotland, I've never heard of any company deciding to make a Saturday a bank holiday. Next year new year's day falls on a Saturday, be interested to see what our colleagues down south think about losing the Monday bank holiday, is this a precedent the union should allow to happen

Next year new year's day falls on a Saturday, be interested to see what our colleagues down south think about losing the Monday bank holiday, is this a precedent the union should allow to happen

It is not an extra day off its a day off everyone gets as part of their annual leave entitlement just that in Scotland we prefer to take the day at new year rather than easter, you have the exact same annual leave entitlement it is not an extra day, just part of the same leave entitlement taken at a different time of year

I get it already that it's a sacrifice from Easter but as I said we are talking about XMAS (not shouting) and so it IS (not shouting...emphasis) an EXTRA (not shouting...emphasis again) day off!!! Over XMAS it is an extra day off!!!!

It is not extra, taking leave at different times of year doesn't mean it's extra just that it's at a different time, extra means he is getting more leave than you, and he is not, your shouting comment coupled with swearing where you are describing him as annoyingly wrong is a bit hypocritical considering your opinion

I am not talking about xmas, the clue is in the thread title, I am talking about New Year.
