Fighting fund for Liverpool (and others?)?

OK I'm reluctant to start this thread because I'm not a postie, but anyway.

The idea has been floated on a few threads that people should give some dough to the Liverpool wildcats so help them get through the week. Another day's delay by the PEC means it's been quite a long time that they've been out.

So I'm starting this thread to give it some more considered discussion.

PLEASE NOTE: I'm not offering to set this up or run it, that'd be dodgy since I'm not a postal worker, and I'm in London. However I'd be happy to help with the technical side if that's, and would publicise it on libcom, labourstart and other places likely to generate some donations once it's set up. On the condition that there's something in place so the money definitely goes to the strikers (i.e. not to a branch or Area rep given it's unofficial action).

So if you want it done someone will have to step up, and if you don't want my help, that's fine too.

A very easy way to do this would be to use: http://www.chipin.com/ - it keeps track of how much has been donated, and the money goes straight into a paypal account of your choosing. It's used by loads and loads of organisations and is very up front.

This requires someone in Liverpool (ideally a striker) with a paypal account to accept the money and distribute it. It's a very transparent way to see how things are going, how much money there is - much better than "send a cheque to this address". It's also really easy to use since anyone with paypal or a credit card can use it - so random people who want to support the strike are more likely to donate if it's convenient.

Yes i totally agree with this post i'd be willing to pay into a fund via paypal, weve all lost money but we need to look after the people who are all out

OK so it needs one person from Liverpool (ideally a couple of others to vouch for them since it'll mean lots of cash passing through their account).

And they'll need a paypal account, (might need a "premier" account to accept credit card payments - doesn't cost anything apart from higher fees).

It is an excllent idea- I'll give to an account. Also workplace collections and getting donations from other unions is a good idea if it can be done.

Of course the CWU hierarchy should be pressured ot make it official- but thye won't. That's why we need to get back th eunion to represent ordinary members and why we need a rank and file movement.

f**k yeah, im up for donating, must be crippling these lads (and lasses soz girls) , spineless strike breakers f***ing TAKE NOTE, i really really hope some are reading this and i hope you feel the SHAME that you should be rightly feeling, think these wildcats can afford all this action do you? My views have changed radically on IA over the past few months and although i was out back in 96 i didnt really care why lol, i just wanted the time off, and didnt really care who scabbed etc, but NOW im disgusted to be sharing an office with the slime.
