Is this nationwide? We've been told next week on thursday/friday we will be taking a D2D weighing 30 grams each. This on top of our normal D2Ds, which must be taken monday-wednesday.

If it puts you in a position that you are unable to complete, then so be it. Follow the correct procedure and there is nothing they can do to stop you.

It's providing extra work isn't it? I'm not one of the 'job-and-knock' generation so I see this job as being paid by the minute. Any extra work is a good thing, and I only have to work my hours at a sensible pace. Personally, I'm glad that the union are encouraging getting extra business to the company.

We've not been told anything either..if it affects our office then surely we would have been told about it before now?

We had them start come into our office it looked like a tv magazine we are in the GL postcode area

As it is a S*n based contract the L, some CH and WA postcodes will not be delivering them as was the case for the World Cup D2D if I remember correctly. Even within offices some duties will get them, others not (particularly rural deliveries it seems if my office is anything to go by)

I have no doubt different offices will come up with different ways of getting them all done within the timescale requested. Where that doesn't happen I suspect RM will keep much as they do when deliveries fail.

Every likelihood that posties will be offered all sorts of silly money to get them delivered, thereby reducing the profit margin on the contract in the first place!

Given current workloads a minimum of 3 days would be a better option over having just 2 days for delivery - increasing the likelihood of contract being delivered in full.

The CWU are in no position to dictate what work RM can and cannot get delivered - at the end of the day all they can do is negotiate the best possible deal in the circumstances.

Guess it depends where you work. I already work in an office where the duties are 40 minutes longer than they should be, with constant pressure being added. I get overtime just on my own duty... and that's with help from Light Duty people actually helping out with IPS and throwing in.

It's fine saying, "work to your time", but this doesn't take into account the day by day stress some of us don't want to deal with in terms of dealing with managers. And I literally don't know anyone can sit there and justify taking this bullshit within 2 days. If the Union agrred to that they can say goodbye to my ***ing 3 quid a week.

Stress is for people who work for themselves, they've to organise their own work schedule & their time accordingly.

More to the point, stress is for the managers, that's why they are on a higher pay grade. I see it said here & repeated so, so often but if you don't want to work overtime, then don't. It's that simple, there's no stress involved, tell the manager what you believe you'll be able to complete. If he has any disputes with you, don't go see your union, just tell him (or her), you're welcome to come out and watch me perform the duty if you don't think it's being done efficiently. So long as you are actually working at a decent pace & not someone that drags their feet just to avoid taking a 20 minute bit of lapsing (or whatever), then you're fine. THEN if they start getting silly whipping out stop watches trying to time you prepping your frame, then go see the ever so helpful union about harassment.
