going to be asked by union area rep and cwu to have a vote on moving from 1 in 4 sat back to 1 in 6 sats
to enable office to make up 6 full time duties
to ensure 1 in 4 sat we had to go through enablers to get them
ie longer deliver spans and later start times
now it seems we will be forced to keep the "enablers" but give up the 1 in 4 sats
all to make up 6 pt duties to full time
the office split is 50/50 ft/pt %
its seems a lot to give up for
considering when all our terms and cons could be up for renegotiation when our protection runs out shortly
thoughts please

We had a vote and it seems keeping Saturdays was not even a considered option. They basically just took them off us and the union did absolutely feck all!
Good luck!
Good luck!
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

salient point being "going to be asked".
says to me you don't have to. question is tho what happens if you don't? are you covering the work now?

To be honest I would hold out as long as you can with the 1in4 saturdays, The way the business is heading you won't hold on to these full-time positions for long anyway then you'll be back to 50/50 and you'll have nothing to show for it. Give them f**k all, they're not to be trusted.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: 1 IN 4 SAT V FULL TIME JOBS
I agree with fish , the national agreement allows for 1 in 4 Saturdays off and provides a menu of options.
However those who opt for 1 in 4 will have to work slightly longer days to ensure that their conditioned hours are factored in on fewer days. This often means longer delivery spans and more part timers. In addition if you are saying moving to a 9 day fortnight , a wallington plus , a 4 day week than you often have to fund your rest day cover duties or even a Saturday only from the hours in your office potentially reducing walks or duties.
However only on a couple of occasions have I know offices want to give up their improved duties. However I have known loads who don't want to go onto improved attendances due to having to work a slightly longer time per day or have more part timers in or a longer span.

You could also argue that the way the business is going you won't hold on to those 1 in 4 Saturdays for long but you will have 6 people made full time to show for it.fishtank wrote:To be honest I would hold out as long as you can with the 1in4 saturdays, The way the business is heading you won't hold on to these full-time positions for long anyway then you'll be back to 50/50 and you'll have nothing to show for it.
If I was one of those six I know which way I would want my colleagues to be voting.
I can't remember the last time someone was made full time.

We don't do 1 into 4, but do do 1 in 6, theres no way they would vote for a rolling day. As others have said hold out, get your sums in order and use the information available to you to argue your case, as others have said, you can't realistically have the same delivery hours on a rota day as you do on a 1 in 4.hans solo wrote:NO they want to put us back onto straight 1 in 6 rotating day

What has the area rep suggested?

Re: 1 IN 4 SAT V FULL TIME JOBS
I have continually askes about 1in 4 Saturdays off. Would also take the 1 in 6 option if not 1 in 4. Currently only get Saturday on when on annual leave. considering the business and transformation agreement states we should all get 1 in 4 (including reserves). what is the process in taking this further????

you'll need a revision to introduce new working practices.noggy wrote:I have continually askes about 1in 4 Saturdays off. Would also take the 1 in 6 option if not 1 in 4.
