Recently joined RM and met CWU Area Rep at Induction day. I was happy to join but his application forms had no political levy opt out box, "...no,problem he says...just use the website application...". I did and it is NOT on there either!!!!
If I want to help fund a political party, I will but I am not impressed by the CWU who make it so difficult to opt out of paying this levy. I personally think people should have to opt in (not out) but that's another discussion and has lots of history.
I would ask the powers that be in CWU to provide a tick box to,opt out of the political level on both your printed application forms and the website.
If I can't opt out, I will not be joining!

Re: Labour levy opt-out
I believe you now need to opt in to the political funds rather than opt out of it.
