Jes we can Labour
Just wondering in light of current events if anyone is Thinking Of joining the labour Party now?
The Cwu helped support Jeremy Corbyn ,s campaign, for a trade union member its a reduced membership From 1.96 a month.
For the record I have Joined ,this seems worth supporting ,time will tell of course

The Labour Party has about as much chance of winning an election with this leadership as Gary Glitter has.genesis wrote:Just wondering in light of current events if anyone is Thinking Of joining the labour Party now?

I was a member until the war on Iraq. I will probably be rejoining.

I'm surprised Corbs is supporting retaining EU membership TBH. I'd have thought he would have been the ideal candidate for pulling out being a bolshie leftist.

Re: Jes we can Labour
Would it matter to him if we did or didn't stay in?
In his (and his colleagues') "rush to gush" and hold up little childishly drawn signs saying "Refugees welcome here" he's proved that his future planning extends no further than tomorrow's headlines.
Give him his due though, as False Prophets go, he's attracting quite a few gullible followers...

Re: Jes we can Labour
Well apart from his single vote, by 2017 I would imagine the gullible will have seen the light and moved on except DW of course, who'll no doubt be advocating staying in. From your description of him I'm trying to imagine him with shoulder length hair and a long white robe, shoeless and wandering the streets muttering to himselfTman wrote:Would it matter to him if we did or didn't stay in?

Corbyn is one of the very few politicians I believe when they say they'll renationalize us. So, yeah, it'll probably end in tears but what the heck. He's got my vote.

Re: Jes we can Labour
For me the gullible are the ones who voted for New Labour in the hope that they'd do what they promised. Instead they turned into Red Tories. I didn't vote Labour in the last election because they offered nothing substantially different from the Tories except a lighter and longer version of Austerity. I joined the Labour Party as an affiliated member and I voted for Corbyn. At least he offers hope and a different way of doing politics, I don't agree with everything he says, but then when you vote for any politician you won't agree with everything they spout.
Still its sad to see that some people, especially the tabloids and media haven't changed and still denigrate and demonise those they disagree with.

Re: Jes we can Labour
Where's (hypothetical as they are unelectable) JC going to get the money from to buy back these industries, house all these economic migrants etc?? Of course, print it and make the little we do earn even more worthless. Cameron probably still can't wipe the smile off his face since this dinosaur's coup of a party in tatters.

“Let’s make it absolutely clear to any speculators in the City...that if any of these assets are sold by Osborne under their value, a future Corbyn-led Labour government will reserve the right to bring them back into public ownership with either no compensation or with any undervaluation deducted from any compensation for renationalisation,”
He didn't go one a "Welcome economic migrants" rally, he went on a "Refugees welcome" one. Aslo he wants to change the approach on migrants, he wants it based on humanitarian considerations http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/po ... 36745.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - So he's not welcoming migrants he wants them treated and processed differently thats all.

Re: Jes we can Labour
The money raised from Privatization has already gone into the big black hole of deficit (labour's) reduction. So he would have to print or borrow regardless. Economic suicide.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:He won't need much http://www.cityam.com/224227/labour-s-lost-it" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;bustedflush wrote:Where's (hypothetical as they are unelectable) JC going to get the money from to buy back these industries, house all these economic migrants etc?? Healey tried taxing people to death in the 1970's and caused massive damage, again suicidal for a vibrant economy.
As for migrants and refugees people fail to make the distinction usually. The genuine refugees are in neighbouring countries like Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon which is where Cameron is directing 900million we can't afford and importing 20,000 more people we have no housing, jobs or resources for. But at least in legal terms they are genuine refugees.
The ones paying traffickers and breaking into the EU are economic migrants, and could you see somebody like JC having the nous and balls to differentiate??

Love him, or hate him, JCs certainly stirred up the Political Pot! Never heard so many people voicing an opinion, which I believe is a good thing. I think a lot of people/voters were getting really pissed off with the "Clone" Politicians....... Nice suits and a smarmy smile......whatever party they were!

So the Afghan translator who worked for the British army, whose family had been killed by the Taliban and he was under a death sentence, because he was stuck in Calais, he wasn't a genuine refugee - according to you.
And the people risking their children's lives on risky boat crossings are all economic migrants and not people fleeing for their lives - according to you.
