ANNUAL LEAVE!!!!

Hi just a quick question about annual leave and who to contact regarding not being able to book any, I still have 12 days owing from last years leave and every time I go in to ask about booking a day off or a week, without looking they turn around and say NO!! I purchase 2 week annual leave so there for I should be in titled to having the days off, I have put in a grevience form regarding the matter but not getting anywhere, can someone advise me as what to do?

Go sick when you eventually get granted some leave and then claim it back. That'll show em.

what was the outcome when you asked the union rep in writing to put in a disagreement over this?

You should go to your bookroom or resourse area and find out what weeks/days are available. These are all that you can book, then make the written request. The forms are available or at least should be in the same room/area, worst case they can print one off for you.

Thats implied isn't it.

Not sure where a Local rep would go when a ADR has "buried" it though. This is one of those things I think the CWU has problems with. Above area it gets a bit cliquey with everyone watching everyone's back, commendable in some circumstances, but it doesn't help serve the membership in others.

It's not really implied, my point is there are a lot of people out there who moan that the union is letting management away with stuff like this, but in actual fact you find that the person moaning hasn't formally asked the union to do anything,

Even with an ADR burying it so to speak, it's not actually that easy to bury if people do things in writing, it leaves a paper trail that can be followed, and a formal request to take it to a stage 2 would need to be denied formally in writing by the ADR and personally that's a risk for them to be seen to take denying offices requests to follow the correct ir process, if someone goes above the ADR head and questions get asked from higher up why agreed process are not being followed the paper trail will lead to a suddenly very lonely ADR

Ah yes, get it in writing, whats it called, grievance form. For years like many other posties we didn't even know what one is !!!

Let me put it this way....its not the sort of form that seems to be readily available in offices unlike P739 cards for obvious reasons. You got to work to find out what it is and then where to friggin find it....jeez where is that link???

Inform your DOM that if he fails to provide you with you contractual amount of Annual leave by the end of March then on the 1st of April you will be submitting a Grievance for Breach of Contract!

i wouldn't give them the forewarning and let them know i'd be putting in a grievance i'd keep all of the a/l request rejections and use them as evidnece in the grievance. Show that you have tried to take your a/l on numerous occasions but been turned down every time.
