Revision Re-pick Put On Hold

Put on hold because one of the less senior members of staff thinks seniority is unfair and they have gone and made a complaint to the top brass. The person has been on the same duty for over 2 years and didn't complain when they got this particular round after a re-pick. This time round they will not get a duty of their own and will become a reserve. Would picking the duties out of a hat be fairer?

No as with CDVs you would still need drivers for every pairing and this is what creates "senior reserves". Also seniority as selection in re-picks has been agreed since the way forward in 2000(?) and more importantly its not illegal or unfair. You can reward loyalty for service (seniority) as long as there is a business reason. The business reason is that all OPGs are trained to the same level and all should be able to to any duty with minimal disruption, therefore as there are no skill differences its a good business decision to reward loyalty.

At least if someone has challenged it and its tested at all levels then at least we should get a definitive decision.

It takes no time to learn a new round.The newbies can take their place in line.

Why should they ? Loads of short term posties want everything changed to suit them.Tough, the older blokes have been doing the job years and are knackered so deserve something back. Remember a lot of them have fought for the wages and conditions that new entrants get.RM don't hand it out on a late.
