International specials
I'm surprised how many of our postmen don't actually know these don't have to be delivered by 1pm. The management don't even know why they come to us with the specials in the first place but there are still postmen swapping loops around so that they can deliver these by 1 oclock. Why don't the management make it aware to us that they are not priority. the only specials that are timed are our own RM ones.

Re: International specials
Management HAVE made it aware to us that anything special or foreign, we get via the locker HAS to be done by one.

Re: International specials
As most of the international sign fors have taken 3 or 4 days to reach us, having a 1 pm dead line is all a bit pointless. I've always delivered these when I get there and never had any negative feed back from the line manager.

Re: International specials
Don't fall for it. Only RM 1pm Delivery count. It's a premium service paid for by the sender - NOT available overseas. The emphasis being on 'next day before 1pm'. As most foreign items have been in the system for a week or so, they're not time sensitive and cannot be classed as anything else.rambo1 wrote:Management HAVE made it aware to us that anything special or foreign, we get via the locker HAS to be done by one.
It just boils down to number crunching to make the 1pm service plausable as it should really be just 'next day' guaranteed - a more realistic and achievable service.

If managers want them done by 1, it is a reasonable request and as such you don't really have grounds to refuse and not following a reasonable request could lead to a conduct charge

Re: International specials
Could mean more gets cut off as it's taking more time out to run around delivering things that are supposidly 1pm special deliverys... even when they dont require signatures :S
Can't really suprise you though... overly unnecessarily so called "organised" business that it is.

Re: International specials
We only started taking specials when we got the vans (last year) and the first thing they told us was internationals had to be done for 1pm, I soon found out after this wasn't the case and then we all had it confirmed so
I even think the Courier highlighted it too

Re: International specials
How many know you can't deliver internationals to a neighbour either? Typically though they're cheapo ebay tat under $10 value written on the customs declaration, so not exactly "special".
The thing is there's plenty Chinese packets that come through the system, that don't come out the locker, that need a signature. So are these not meant to be delivered to a neighbour either?

Re: International specials
As there is no reason to do them by 1pm, I'd say that it isn't a reasonable request at all (unless he has a very good reason and explains to you).zx135 wrote:If managers want them done by 1, it is a reasonable request and as such you don't really have grounds to refuse and not following a reasonable request could lead to a conduct charge

Re: International specials
They're not a paid for premium service to have delivery attempted before 1pm.
I very much doubt managers would know if they were delivered otherwise

Re: International specials
They are NOT timed products.
This was indeed a letter wrote into the courier and was confirmed by reply that they did NOT need to be delivered by 1pm, our DOM emailed the person who replied in the courier to confirm this via email, and they did!
It is ONLY 9am and 1pm Royal Mail BRANDED barcoded items that are time sensitive!
The delivering of the International specials to a neighbour becomes a very grey area, especially when some need a signature and some are just confirmation of delivery.
CLEAR guidance is badly needed, even more so, when managers are telling staff wrong info regarding times for international items!

the managers don't know one hand from the other,so don't tax the grey cell by asking for advice

Re: International specials
Exactly, that's what I do, if they want all the recorded done before one, so be it...... But I'll still say, by the way I'll be finishing on time, what do you want me to leave /take.zx135 wrote:thecompletepackage wrote:Don't fall for it. Only RM 1pm Delivery count.
