I had my P/L partner leave a few montha ago, he was the driver.
The DOM then put his frame as another permanent lapsed round.
Now with me being the walker I had the biggest loops but the DOM told me that I just take my frame but I have to empty the boxes for both frames. Do all the specials for both rounds. Do all the large parcels for both rounds
Bearing in mind that my frame has 4 walker loops and 3 driver loops on it with the walker loops being 10 mins longer.
Not only this he wants me to throw off both walks as well
Our DOM doesn't know one walk from another as doesn't know any of the walks and the only knows the walk to the coffee machine and hasn't got a Scooby
Yes I cut off most days but its a waste of time talking about the problems , he isn't interested. He is only interested with targets and budgets

this may sound hard, but you have to get in the frame of mind where you accept you can do the amount of work that is possible for you to do and thats it, if youre given too much, then you will cut off, simple.
If the DOM wants to continue saying you can do all of it, then keep bringing it back when you run out of time and let the DOM take the stress of covering it.
Hopefully you are in the union and can keep your rep updated on a daily basis about how much work you are getting done and how you think its an unreasonable amount

Rep is in the same boat as us and cuts off as well.
Doesn't worry me cutting off but why have a DOM who doesn't know the area or the walks.
Some of the walks are ridiculously long but nothing gets done.
If its the same at a lot of offices its all going to go tits up soon.
Today was a classic. at 7.20 am we had 14 Yorks of flats that came in off the lorry and with a small office of 20 we only have 2 flat sorters.
Where the hell did RM have them stored up ??

We got creamed also, big carry over for tomorrow that will cause an issue again tomorrow. No resourcing. Managers and anyone who can walk out on delivery. It's bloody depressing at the end of the day. You go to work positive, 2 hours on the IPS, already late out by the time you get off that and you just know you don't have a chance. And they wonder why sick goes up.

My oppo shift is regularly lapsed, but I don't and wont ever take the oversized packets for it. The people doing the lapsing have a van also, so there is absolutely no reason why they wouldn't be able to take the oversized's.
I do do the 2 box collections on the other shift as I have time and I also take a note of where the Specials are for and speak to the guys who do that area to see if they will get there by 1pm. Usually they do, as they do lapsing 1st but 1 of the areas is covered by a rural so he often isn't going to make it for 1pm and I am happy to do any as it is pretty much a minute away from 1 of my box collections.
I would certainly be questioning why you have to take the oversized packets for a shift that is being lapsed - if it is being lapsed, then that includes any and all oversized packets.
Bottom line is, if you have the time to do all the other tasks then you can't really complain, but if you are genuinely struggling to finish on time as the workload (removing the oppo oversized packets from equation) is simply too great, then you need to highlight this on a daily basis and turn your problem in to your managers problem.

Exactly the same here too. Smashed with flats today, 5 yorks left for tomorrow, the mailsort? Screwfix (again!) Machine Mart, Next, the whole caboodle. I take great please nowadays in saying "NO" Royal Mail has been running on the good will of Posties, who don't want to let "Their" customers down, for far too long!
The main problem at present is we seem to be getting an ever rotating number of Temporary DOMs. Everytime a new one turns up they try the same old, well worn, phrases (they must teach them at Managers School). It just gets so boring having to keep dealing with these BS excuses and explanations.
