What days count as "sick days"
Hi, While sorting the other morning and chating to a colleague I was suprised when he told me he had just come back to an stage 1 warning ,after being off for 10 working days,(first sick days for ten years or so)..surely your rest day and sundays can't count as sick days!

why is he being given a stage 1 as you have to be off sick for more than 13 days before it,s triggered. also sunday,s and rest days count as sick unless you have informed manager or bookroom at least 24 hours in advance.1exprinter wrote:Hi, While sorting the other morning and chating to a colleague I was suprised when he told me he had just come back to an stage 1 warning ,after being off for 10 working days,(first sick days for ten years or so)..surely your rest day and sundays can't count as sick days!

Re: What days count as "sick days"
I've got the same problem. I have been put on a stage 2 but when I look at my sickness they have included my rest day and Sunday as sickness. How can they include this as sickness? I only work 5 days a week so if I have 2 weeks off surely it's only 10 days sickness?
I've asked for a handbook or something just to help clarify the sickness procedure but they are giving me the run around !

well, it certainly has puzzled me,yep how on earth can taking a week off ,monday to sunday count as 7 working days..that's certainly never been the case in any other campany I've worked for, being off work ill for a week should count as 5 days!...how do royal mail get away with this!

It's not 7 it's 6
Go sick Mon,phone in Sat to say you will be in on the Mon= MTWTFS,Sun will not count.
We work Mon to Sat in deliveries,6 days.
It's a pisser the way it's done, that's the way it is though.
The count the 1st day till the day you phone in and 'everything' in between.
I'm not even gonna go there with the part timers on a few days a week!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
