Postmen are as much to blame for lapsing as Management

We have been doing lapsing at our office for about 3 years now after we started doing P/L deliveries
We had our walks tested by Pegasus at 4 hours 15 mins (with an average of 20 parcels a day )
After about 6 months they started doing SUMMER lapsing
This then changed to all year lapsing unless the figures were to high
The goalposts then moved again and its now lapsing regardless of figures PLUS we have to empty postboxes as well, still all in 4 hours 15 mins
The problem is that some Postmen are coming in earlier and earlier( P/T and fulltime workers) whilst the other half of the office are saying "sod it", come in on time and work till their time and don't do lapsing.
So their you have it a split office
The managers are waiting for the 1st back to jump on them and clear some of the left behind lapsing whilst they blank the workers who finish on time
Makes for a lovely atmosphere in the office.
The managers bully and use scare tactics on the P/T workers and the weak F/T staff to clear there lapsing
Never seen so many workers on light duties due to injuries as well and its only going to get worse with more heavier workloads and more cuts for profit

Add to it no recruitment for years despite losing staff.

I have to laugh when you hear the runners moaning about those that take their time not doing lapsing while they have to - seriously, just think about it!

I find myself constantly looking on in utter bemusement at those pr**s (could conjure up far worse names than that) who come in early or dash around like they've got a nettle shoved up their arse. The best part is they are usually the first ones that say they're not lapsing or just moan about workload
Injury is more likely to occur when rushing - strangely I've not heard that mentioned in any brief/wtll/etc - the manager has the brush in hand, where's that carpet?

Typical divide and conquer tactics by RM management, they are letting the workforce screw themselves over whilst they sit back and drink coffee. Unfortunately the idiots are making life more awkward for us more sensible types .

Same in my office, except on the whole runners that come in early etc go home early and get no harassment. While people doing the job properly are harassed from the moment they get in, for management fear of them cutting off. (by harassment I mean standing right over you, constantly questioning why you are doing something a certain way, despite 21 years experience, stopping people talking to each other- even when its about work. Basically attempting to use intimidation to rush you out the door.)
Its just not a pleasant place to work. This does seem to be a deliberate divide and concur strategy, that thanks to those d***s that run etc seems to be working.

Some couples get back 2 hours earlier than others, they get to go home quietly, while we have extra bulk calls and 2 pillar boxes then have to fight for our half an hour overtime pay!
Why can't they get off their fat asses and test walks, and make them more equal??
Still why should they , they have it easy and go home early every day, waste of money linos are.

People who come in early and rush round and get nothing out of it must be special needs, a part of their brain is missing because there's no explanation as to why a perfectly normal person would do such a thing.

DONT GET USED AS AN OVERTIME SAVIOUR TO THE MANAGERS.
On busy days refuse to take loops if you are following rules correctly and not rushing around like a headless chicken and you genuinely think you can't finish ontime.
We need to put hours BACK into the office not take them out.
We are making a rod for our own backs.

I get more grief from fellow posties than i do management when it comes to lapsing.

If i don't have my regular partner on with me then it's usually a battle between us. I always seem to get paired up with complete brown nosers
I wouldn't mind if they had my duty prepared for me coming in but i'm usually left with piles of mail and 2-3 packet bags to sort too. All while they've bagged up, loaded their stuff into the van and pulled out the lapsing.

Get hassled by them then the management when i have to say i'm leaving it behind.

I thought it was to take you up to your finishing time so we weren't having fliers anymore? It's becoming forced overtime.

Believe it or not some Posties still do not understand the guidelines for lapsing! Posties with 20plus years service saying, "I had to go an hour over yesterday because of my lapsing"! How difficult is it to understand?

IF YOU CANNOT COMPLETE WITHIN YOUR DUTY TIME YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE ANY LAPSING!

We have recently been asked to take the lapsing BUT leave a similar amount off your duty, which doesn't make sense to me but WTF! They're all Royal Mails customers, I keep telling people they're not your customers just do the indoor work that's asked of you and then tell the DOM, you're unable to complete the duty your on. How much work does he want you to leave behind?
