A development of 25-30 sheltered housing has been built on a site that is now on a ppf school rebuild. My partner on p&l has been told or should I say harassed into taking mail for the construction workers hut that are building the complex. The line manager has told him that he is the nearest delivery point for the workers hut, which I feel is fair enough. Management's position is that he should now deliver to the whole scheme once it has opened.
As the school that was on the current site was delivered by another duty, what should his response be now?
Should he state that this is a new development and be treated as such? Should he state that the duty that does the 'new' school should deliver all the mail? Or if as I think the case will be, you have plenty of time up your sleeve ,absorb the development along with the collections and lapsing? Or should he state that. This is not the duty the planners designed for me, which i signed off on?Get the duty retested with the new development added on? Our current office has NO Full time Union Representative and we are being shafted.

Usually when these things happen if they are only a few they get absorbed, how long extra do you realistically think it would take to do them?
And what is the honest opinion on how it affects the duty?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Can the workers hut be accessed without entering the building site? If not why is delivery even being attempted there?

The duties have a delivery span of 4hr 15min. At this time of year it takes usually between 3hr 45min -4hrs. But coming into autumn pressure time we can be delivering for up to 5hrs.

Re: New development questions.
How long does the extra bit take.
To be honest someone has to do it, and unless its smack bang in the middle of a duty then there is nothing set in stone as to who should get it. Sometimes you have to suck it up. However, it does mean you are more likely to "not complete" and less likely to be able to lapse as per the agreement.
I have had roughly 80 added to mine over the years, unfortunately its the natural order of things that new addresses will be added.
