Broken Leg

Post by SFcBlaze »

I broke my leg whilst on duty in May. I have had a letter today requiring me to attend a meeting at my local office to facilitate my return to work. Due to complications I am still in a wheel chair and have yet to start physio, which my line manager is aware of. Can they insist I attend this meeting? The meeting is for Saturday and as it is Thursday it isn't much notice.

I would say that if your manager insists you attend a meeting that you suggest due to your disability your manager and rep attend your address. You probably need your health and safety rep there to as I'm sure the work place and you will need a risk assessment if you were to attend in your present state.

Thanks for your advise. I have phoned H & S and left a message. Hoping he will phone back soon. What if I can't find a rep to attend with me? Can I ask for meeting to be put back solely on that basis?

I really want to avoid a home visit. I felt really vulnerable last time laid in bed plastered up to the hips with my commode at the side of my bed. Still makes me cringe now.

Yes, if you want your Rep there and they are not available. although there may be another rep who could attend instead.
