took 3 year lump sum travelling, now want to resign

hello everyone, our office was closed just over 2 years ago and a 5 year travelling plan was set out, i decided at the time to take the maximum 3 year lump sum upfront, i have done 2 years 2 months since then but have decided i want to leave royal mail for another career. Now i owe 10 months worth of travelling, can i still leave now and make a payment plan to pay the remaining 10 months back, or am i bound in contract to remain with royal mail for the next 10 months?

You're not bound to stay at RM you can just give the standard 7 days notice , however you could be liable to re pay any payments advanced to you.

Thats good to know. Have drafted up resignation letter so might just hand in today. Been here 15 years and i must say i am nervous leaving hahaha but needs must :)

before resigning i would maybe ask if there are any VRs going in your area, rather than quit and get nothing may get another pay off for leaving

Nothing like that at all. Missed out on all vrs couple of months back. Just handed letter in with 7 days notice and they wanted 6 weeks notice. Unfortunately that will not be happening. So last week as a postie :0

Cheers. My uncle has his own electrician and plumbing business so i gonna train up and get qualifications and work for him. Always wanted to be an electrician so nows my chance before i get to old haha
