Following a successful trial, we’re expanding the deployment of a new product - Delivered Scanned. Delivered Scanned provides additional information to us and our customers about when a parcel has been delivered, or a delivery attempted.

It is part of our strategy of improving the service we offer our customers. Our customers say access to tracking and proof of delivery is second only to price when they choose a carrier.

What will be different?

Nothing changes until the point of delivery - all Delivered Scanned items remain first or second class parcels and should be treated as such in regional distribution centres (RDCs) and mail centres

They will arrive into the delivery office in the normal Royal Mail 1c/2c stream (a ready for delivery scan is not required)

At the point of delivery the item will need to be scanned before it is delivered

Obtaining the scan on the doorstep is very important

No signature is required

It can be delivered to a neighbour after it is scanned

If the item cannot be delivered it must be scanned as ‘not delivered’ and then returned to the delivery office where it will be held at the enquiry office to be scanned again upon collection

Every Delivered Scanned parcel must be scanned as 'delivered' or 'not delivered' to meet customer requirements

Delivered Scanned has been deployed in parts of the north and west, with the east to follow later this month.

DOMs are going to have to find the time as the parcel scanning gets rolled out in the Autumn so you'll be scanning a lot more parcels on delivery, don't know if you'll also have to scan them in the DOs as well

Was told that they need to be counted into locker separately when this comes because they're going to need another different shelf in there to store them on. There's already 4 piles to count back in - specials, recordeds, tracked and 'nothings' which all have to be checked and signed off each delivery. Now this new 'DS' they're calling it, and the fact that it's 'DS' apparently has to be writ on the P739 as there isn't a box to tick for that yet!

Have all your offices lost Amazon then? we've had this a while now, almost all amazon parcels are now delivery scanned. They come through as normal parcels, and are treated as such, except for the doorstep scan.

So if you scan one of the new "delivery scan" parcels and a tracked parcel. Leave them in a safe place (e.g with neighbour), do you now just press delivered for both (abandoning the old tracked parcel rules of pressing "safe place")? Or do we scan both separately?

We were told only to select SafePlace with Tracked when we've actually left it in the SafePlace specified on the label, that the customer has selected. If you just leave it in the shed round the back or with a neighbour we were told to scan it as Delivered.

It's about time they added a "Delivered to Neighbour" option on the PDAs. How f*cking hard can it be, considering we're encouraged to use that particular option on all manner of items?

Would that be the same PDAs that have batteries that last about 1 hour on delivery, don't have pens and have screens that can't be seen in the sun.
