Day off for Wedding

Need some advice, i have 3 Weddings coming up all close family.

One in August that has been covered with annual leave, at the same time informed DOM I have another Wedding in September and need the day off, he said he would look into it, at the time of asking he had 8 weeks to sort something out, DOM has now gone on leave for 2 weeks, so asked covering DOM if he knew or could look up if original DOM sorted it.

He phoned original DOM who said, he did not know if he would be able to let me have the day off, and would not know until he came back off leave. I've still got plenty of leave left because every time i try and book leave the dates are not available, we are short staffed, so because they are not recruiting we are suffering because theres not enough staff to cover the walks.

I have offered to take it unpaid to which i was told no, operational needs.

The 3rd Wedding is in October have not got exact date yet.

Any advice in how to sort this.

Ask your colleagues if any of them would mind swapping a day off with you, chuck in some beer if necessary to sweeten the deal.

Rediculous people are put in this situation though.

I have a wedding to go to this september, I originally asked for it off LAST OCTOBER and was told I couldn't have it off, its beyond ridiculous. I managed to swap my day off though in the end.

the whole leave system is ridiculous. I don't condone days off sick when you just need the day off but it's the only thing you can do now, just don't post anything on facebook.
It's daft because if the dom allowed the day on leave he would loose you for a day, but if your off sick for a day you may as well have 2 or 3 days... (again I don't condone it, but you just can't seem to get days off).

I was originally refused a day off for my own wedding because I was getting married at 4 o'clock and there would be plenty of time to get ready...after numerous phone calls to area managers and HR the decision was overturned...so good luck

I've learned over the years if you're willing to take a day off without pay don't ask for it just do it, phone in and say family problems

What peeps need to do for the odd days is get someone else to try to get the day off,if they get it off job done,just swap it,if not go sick.
Sad times telling colleagues to go sick,but you managers are making it this way as most of you are incapable of doing your job properly.

if you need it take it, apply for special leave c, tell whoever you need to what it's for and that you won't be in regardless of their decission. Give them a copy of the wedding invite if needs be. Point being you are either going to the wedding or not. Special leave c costs the business nothing so money exist to pay docket for it to someone who isn't going to the wedding.
