30 mins flex

Just want some clarification some people in my office don't want to flex as management are trying I everyday but are happy to do the 1/2 hr overtime but this is being refused.

Flexing is voluntary. Just refuse, it's not worth your bother to come in thirty minutes later to just as much work to do but half an hour less in which to do it in. It's supposed to help cover exceptional circumstances, if they want it every day the exceptional circumstance is that they can't resource and should be shot with their own shite.

According to the agreement how often are they allowed to ask you to lapse?
Is it for one 30 minute period once a week or as often as they want?
Also i recall some bright spark brass hat saying something to the effect that the thirty minutes didn't have to be repaid the same week but could be repaid the following week. Obviously this would affect one's weekly hours so sounds like the usual management shittalk

Flexing is an extenuating circumstances thing, e.g. the mail is late into the office because of a van breakdown - "Please would you do your best by going over a bit and not cutting off if you need to." It has nothing to do with traffic volumes i.e. it is busy today so you have to do extra. It has nothing to do with lapsing. It has nothing to do with 'easy Tuesdays and Saturdays'.

Basically, help your employer out if you can when there is a genuine problem but say no when they are trying to cut hours or compensate for poor management.

I think you are confusing lapsing and flexing, two different things, they can ask you to lapse everyday of the week, though rep should be ensuring that this is only done with appropriate traffic levels, flexing "should" only be once a week but at end of the day flexing is completely voluntary, again completely voluntary so they can ask every day but you are under no obligation to do it not even once if you don't want to

Yeah my mistake I should have said "flex" not "lapse" in the first sentence.

I know it's pretty much academic seeing as flexing is voluntary, but we should know that if we've flexed once that week the f***ers shouldn't be asking before the following Monday.
