Re: doms
Our DOM does this but to change the indoor hours would require a Revision. Not had a proper Revision since 2009. Was promised one at beginning of May so it would become implemented before the Autumn rise in traffic. Due to the collapse of Whistl, we have been told all planners are revisiting offices that are 'struggling'. Our office wont see a revision this side of new year. And yes, at least 50% of walk holders come in early and 95% do not use their lwt on duty as it "slows them down".

Re: doms
Because we are permanently short staffed our DOM does prep every day and often goes out on delivery. He's been told by his boss that he's got to do it, but mustn't report it! Too scared of losing his job to stand up for himself.jammie wrote:No postmans work if they're doing this extra hours need to be put into the indoor workload

Re: doms
DOMs and linos out on delivery every day in London - DOMs that request additional staff as they cannot cope are not being given any which is resulting in USO failures (which is basically willful delay by senior management) .... hardly any hourage was put back when Whilstl ceased delivering letters.

Re: doms
Although I have very little time for Royal Mail Managers this situation is ridiculous. We know that our Managers are getting pressure from above because their Managers work on the same divisive "Bonus Structure" that they do....They need to make savings!ShropshireLad wrote:

However they have their own Union, and Reps, and they should be fighting their own corner against their "Superiors". No idea how that would come out....Could they offer to withhold their labour?....Would anyone notice?
What does concern me is that they are doing (and therefore taking away) work from OPGs. The Innocent in my DO say, "Ah bless he's trying to help us out"! What they don't realise is he's making it look good on his figures and paving the way for further cuts in the office budget/hours.
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)

Re: doms
been going on in my 10+ years with RM, I cannot get full time hours, my union rep ground me down to just to accept the situation, he knows it goes on but refuses to do anything and yes, I went above him, never got a reply!
the last few months is the worst I've known it, a line manager whose actually a good lad is out posting til all hours most days and cannot get a "dog attack" report sorted!
wonder what would happen if the same dog bit another?
more & more overtime just means more & more lapsing, then some moan about their holiday pay been low so try to work a day or 2 of it, and i used to be 1 of them until i thought "feck it"
may hurt a few short term, but seeing as we cannot strike then an overtime ban would be best along with a down-tools if a manager was sorting a walk,
of course this would be seen as treason to most posties now, including my rep who actively encourages a "fill your boots" on overtime even though the ft/pt ratio is nearing 50/50 by the month

We can, the no strike agreement is for national strikes, and some nebulous description of "Integral part of the operation"but seeing as we cannot strike
the relevant section is:
if there is national - scale industrial action (in the form of a strike or action short of a strike) which has been authorised at national level by the CWU, namely industrial action which either (i) involves employees in the majority of operational workplaces across Royal Mail Group Limited; or (ii) involves employees in an integral part of the operation whereby taking action will have, or is reasonably likely to have, a similarly disruptive effect.

It in effect stops anyone in an RDC, MC and possibly a MDEC from striking, the same might also apply to any DO that functions as an MPU or as a collections hubTrueBlueTerrier wrote:We can, the no strike agreement is for national strikes, and some nebulous description of "Integral part of the operation"but seeing as we cannot strike
