Leave reserve day swap

As a leave reserve of some years in my office, it has always been the case that whatever duty we are due to cover that week, the day off that the particular duty comes with we 'inherit' so to speak. However as of today we were informed that orders 'from above' mean that all leave reserves are only to be given either Monday or Tuesday off for 'operational necessity' which I take to mean 'easiest days' and certainly in our office the shortest days! Surely this can not be the case and we should indeed get the day that comes with the delivery we are covering? (eg next week I should have friday off but this has been moved to Monday instead). Any thoughts would be gratefully received.

Also, Point out to your Dom that he/she will then have to up your hours as you will then be working more than you 39 hrs contract as it stands.

I would point out this has been happening to PT reserves on a 34 hr contract or less for years now. The union does not seem too bothered.

Yeah they can't do that if you work longs and shorts as you'll always be getting the shorter days off and working more than the 39 hours. These orders haven't come from above he's talking crap, ask him who have the order because you want to speak to them.

Also you wont be able to achieve the 1 in 4 saturdys off, yes this may be an "aspiration", but how can you aspire to achieve if this is not on offer?
stage 2 Grievance as the decision maker in this instance is not your lino or whoever told you "orders from above". Your grievance is with the decision maker not the messanger. Get the area rep in. Not to disrespect your local represenative but clearly the decision make is proper to the area rep.

All reserves in our office being given Tuesday's off. Asked manager today for a Saturday in a few weeks and his reply was Tuesday's are your day off, it might need to be annual leave!

if you work longs and shorts in your office get them to add up their hours, would not be surprised if its more than 39
