just spoken to acas ,people who have been on awr and are now been kept to 1 day aweek or zero, whilst new starters are getting the bulk of shifts.we should write to angard asking them why new starters are getting more work than them(we all know why, cheap labour)give them10 to 14 days to respond.
also where told by royal mail managers they aren,t allowed to pick and choose which staff they get from angard ,(as it is ileagall)this is also untrue according to acas .
no such law .if we can prove avoidance then we have chance of change,we need to stop rolling over and at least try to make things fair.on average when i go into work i see 30/70 split between long term staff and new starters.
you give loyal service work hard do the training .for what cheap labour to come in and take your job ,its sickening.

Re: AWR avoidance
I've been in touch with angard regarding this situation and all they say is zero hour contract. Where training them for Christmas or complete ignorance. Angard are a very unprofessional agency so why aren't RM monitoring the way they are treating long term staff. If they do know then for a global company to treat it's emergency staff with such disrespect is inhumane. I hope I'm not insulting anyone but this is how I feel.

Re: AWR avoidance
The agreement is between Angard and regional or national RM management. This is what I have been told. It may or may not be true. Regional management tell Angard how many staff they want Angard to recruit to cover their overall needs. Local management inform Angard how many staff they will require to fulfil their requirement for each individual shift. Local management have been informed by Angard that they are not allowed to pick and choose the staff they want. Angard will do this. How Angard decides who does or does not get shifts we have no way of knowing. In reality, local management still selects certain staff, the "friends and family," list they want in. Angard are not informed about this. The reason they get away with this is because no one at Angard checks who is getting shifts and who isn't. The signing sheets go straight to payroll from RM. Payroll has no idea who was supposed to be on the shift, and the people who book the shifts never see the sheet that goes to payroll, so they don't know if anyone has been added later. As far as I know there is no law to cover the allocation of shifts for workers on zero hour contracts.

Re: AWR avoidance
They may prefer to have people who know what they are doing, but they don't care enough to do something about it.

At the RM sorting centres one hears so much DOUBLE TALK, BLATANT LIES and utter hypocrisy.
Trained, tested, highly experienced, reliable, extremely hardworking and punctual Angardees are always overlooked for shifts because cheap new recruits are chosen above much better AWR people who incidentally were once Xmas casuals.
I have been told by a "Luke" at the ANGARD call centre that they operate a rotational system?
Does this also include some Angardees who are actually called directly by mail managers?
"Oh they must not do that"! is the answer. So much for a fair rotational system at Angard. Utter lies.
