Are we getting Boxing Day ( Saturday ) off?

Says on the website that our boxing day service day is Monday 28th.

Seems there will definitely be no service on the 28th, appears almost certain to get the 26th off too.

Boxing Day can't be a sat or sun, you'll always get the sat and mon or sun/tue off

Because Boxing Day falls on Saturday it gets moved to Monday and Monday becomes the bank holiday. Saturday the 26th is usually a non service day but Royal Mail have to put it in writing to ofcom that they wish for the 26th to be made a non service day. Up until now it's always been granted but if ofcom were to say no then we would be working on the 26th if it was a Saturday.

I reckon Ofcom will argue that a 3 day break to services is too long and thus we'll have to work Saturday.

Not usually no. Not in our office anyway.

I can imagine us having to work it, especially as OFCOM seem to hate us, probably as we are so much better than everybody else. I also reckon they are closet tories who just hate working people.

actually they have said they are minded to agree to the non service day, they are just waiting for objections from interested parties.

Recommendation

4.1 Ofcom is minded to accept Royal Mail’s request for an exception to the universal service collection and delivery for:

• Saturday 26 December 2015, and
• when 26 December falls on a Saturday in future years, e.g. in 2020, until further notice.

For people on floating week off it is 9 days break. And I am one of lucky one ;) .

may be wrong, but if they make dec 26th a non service day and if it happens to be your day off anyway you won't get a credit, just for the mon 28th
they'll just make sure all reserves get given that as their day off too.
