Hi if I need to pick up my child from school as he starts school in September can I insist on going on a walk that I can finish on time,as currently on my park and loop I am working with guy who struggles and from sep onwards we will get back late between 3 and 330 , I've asked dom to change but he says no so I explained situation and told him I will need to cut off this hasn't gone down well and says he can't change me. I don't want to cut off but I need to get to school where is the family friendly business? If I am on walk on own I can finish before 3 so why won't he change me as we had no resign should I just cut off is this ok to do?

I work 0700-1428 that includes 20 mon break before we go out, at moment getting back on time or early but I know come autumn there is no chance as my walk is 15 min drive from office and need to be at school for 3 o'clock so can't work past time

You can't insist on a suitable walk unfortunately you can only ask for one, it's up to him whether he gives you one or not,

You can however cut off at your finish time just make sure you follow the over running deliveries procedure correctly and that will prevent you getting into trouble

Going by your start and finish times and your break length it seems you are taking some of your break at the end of the shift, be careful with this as dom could try and mess you around and insist you don't take it at the end of shift (he would need to do that to whole office though or risk being seen as victimising you) that's one of their tricks they try and use on people being "difficult"

From what you say there is no need for family friendly.Your official finishing time is enough for you to get to your sons school.
You do not have to work over if you don't want to.
You've explained the situ to the screw,make sure your rep is also aware.

If you have to cut off so be it.

Ok thanks I think he thinks I am taking too long on delivery and says it can be done in time but I have told him your only as fast as your partner and mine is fairly slow so I will just do my hours , he does expect us to do half hour more on heavier days and let's us go earlier on Saturdays but I can only work till about 240

Excuse me!! He expects me to do half an hour more on busy days! Wow. Tell him that he can expect YOU to work your contracted hours, end of. Tell him to do his job and if he doesn't like it he knows where the door is. ALWAYS put the onus onto the manager. That's his job and that's what he is paid for.

write letter detailing that from xxxx date due to issues with picking up your child you will not be able to work over your time

explaining you will be happy to work to your time every day ( yes even saturday) will ensure that there can be no comeback at all

you cannot be in trouble for working to your time everyday!
