It lasts for 6 months. In that time you can have 1 more absence of up to 9 days. If you have 2 seperate absences or 1 absence of 10 days or more you'll trigger a stage 2. If you stay within the limit you'll be clear in 6 months.

Check out downloads and the Union area. We have the full Attendance Procedure and with some digging LTBs that are issued on the same subject.

Is there any exceptions when it comes to management giving out these stages?..... Or is it out of their hands?

No in theory they should have discretion, in reality they don't, they all get issued because if they don't they have to explain why. However all Pregnancy related absences should be discounted, and all Accidents on Duty MAY be discounted.

I just (underhandedly) got given a stage 1 for having a long term absence. The absence however was a double operation pre-planned and prior warning was given to the DOM two months in advance!

Having read the attendance policy this warning did not have to be given...its at the discretion of the manager once any mitigating factors have been taken into account????

What does that tell you?... Managers still do whatever they please regardless of procedure and are still getting away with it despite Union intervention!

In cases like that I would like to think that they would use their discretion, but who knows!! I know a lino who does his best not to issue them and only does when he really has no choice. Fair play to him.
