***** POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR THE SHOW****

Now this may seem a little of topic but it is royal mail related. Just wondering if anyone has been watching the new season of oitnb?

The reason i ask is because the prison changes from public to private and i feel it shows the changes really well.

The high up white collers, have these board meetings where they try and save money, the people with experiance in the prison (postal service) offer advice which gets over looked because its not going to save money even though its the best option, they then tell the people below them and it then filters through to us.

Its a wonderful eye opener of just how out of touch people in the boardroom who make the decisions are. There is a distinct difference of what an idea is on paper to reality.

It even shows the prison guards being changed from a majority full time unit to a collection of part timers and the problems that throws up.

The guys in the boardroom will throw out these wacky terms and slogans and ideas, the prison warden who knows whats best for the inmates and guards will say "hang on a minute, you may save money there but its going to cause so and so problems" and of course the wardens input is over looked.

The most resounding similarity between the fictional prison and our company was when someone asked why the top guy was doing all these things when in a few years it will all come back to bite him..... The response was "he wont be here in a few years to suffer the consequences" cough 'moya' cough

Do you know I was thinking the exact same thing! My previous empolyer went down the same route, and now RM.

The show was very true to life, it actually made me quite angry, all these people in their climate controlled offices, just making silly ideas on how to scale back expenditure.

I would love for one of them to spend a day in our shoes.....
