Sick of the way reserves get treated had two Saturday's off in nearly 3 years, always bottom of the order for jobs that get advertised stuck on rounds we don't know one newbie was looking forward to a Saturday off and they changed it so she couldn't have it, how can a company treat work staff so differently to full timers I'm this day and age surely it's discrimination? One person in this office has had 7 out of the last 8 Saturday's off yet when others try to book one were unable to!

get onion rep involved, you are entitled to 1 in 6 though not on a pattern like a fixed duty holder, still crap as you can't demand a monday off to follow nor know well in advance to book owt away.
treat like 3rd rate citizens and i've had a duty for 4 years but always sympathize with our reserves

I don't really mind that i wouldnt get the Monday off to follow but with a young family i'd love to be able to have a weekend off now and again especially when the weathers nice, so are we definately entitled to it? weve been given two weeks notice now were losing our collections aswell as having our hours dropped to 24 this job is really going down the swanny :(

Why am I not entitled? Is there some written agreement to back this up? Do we get paid more for the Saturdays we work over and above? Sounds like grievance territory to me, all the way to the top.

In the CWU agreement there is a section saying that they aim to give employees A MINIMUM one saturday in six INCLUDING RESERVES. Iam a reserve and I have seen this in black and white. Having said that I have only had one saturday off this year but I have made an agreement with my manager to give me a wednesday off every week instead as I actually prefer a day off bang in the middle of the week to split my week up. If that pattern changes I quickly remind him.
If you want a Saturday off then see your rep because reserves are entitled to 1 in 6. As someone said reserves cant demand a monday off too but sure as hell you are entitled to saturdays.
