In our office we have so called haters of the job but there up begging book officer to come in working there rest day on there own duty then floater is shafted is this not doing away with a job and DOM crying about over spend in hours

Happens in most offices, although it shouldn't. It's just an easy solution for your DOM. He has the duty covered and he hasn't got to chase anyone else to work overtime!

If you. or your mate, are the Reserve for that particular duty insist on covering it! Tell the DOM that the Duty Holder should cover whatever other duty needs covering. If he wants to work his day off fine, but he should be "Flexible" as well (which I'm sure is the argument the DOMs making to you) and not expect to just do his own duty.

We used to have Duty Holders that always worked their days off, on their own duties, it caused a problem for the Reserves because they never got the chance to get to know those Duties. And inevitably when they did get on them for the odd day the Frame Layout was shite and they'd end up trying to deliver all over the place and taking ages to do it.

Talk to your Rep about it and mention to the DOM that you don't think the Duty Holder is being Flexible enough and you feel "Discriminated Against" by being asked to jump around different duties. Sometimes works........ You'll usually find the Duty Holder will decide they don't want to work if they can't do their own duty, which is their decision.

I hold my own duty,But I think its unfair for me to expect to work on it on my day off.
Yes im a duty holder,My days off are covered by link men,Who are supposed to do a set duty on different days of the week,Covering mine and my partners on our day off.
So are they not as entitled to demand they keep whatever duty they are supposed to be on that day ? im sure as hell I would kick up a stink if I was told to make way.
Seems to be 1 rule for the 5 day holder and another for the 1 day holder.

Floaters shouldn't let themselves be shafted. In my office the duty holder has to ask the floater if he would mind, if the floater doesn't want to swap then the duty holder either has to do another walk or not work his rest day. The floater signed to do that duty on that day. Someone working their rest day doesn't count as operational needs, the duty holder is as much capable of doing another duty as anyone else.

Yeah, I so often hear them say 'my round'. Well it isn't their round on their day off, it's somebody elses.

However, the management know full well that if they aren't put on 'their round' on that day then they won't work their day off. Therefore it becomes necessary under 'operational needs' to keep them on that duty and shaft the floater.

It's not management screwing the posties over in this instance, it's the OPG colleagues.

Totally agree we've floaters been kicked off for months on end while guys work there day off on that duty. Fought for a 5 day week for years , makes u sick eh

im a floater......and if the duty holder wants to work his day off he has to settle for an open duty......havnt had a duty holder letting me get a days work on my day off lol

and as a Duty Holder if asked to work my day off I ALWAYS ask the floater before I acceed to the managers request. Although they hardly ask me now.

Don't have a floater on my duty, can't displace someone who is not there so, I do my duty if they want me in on my day off (not that anybody wants to do it, there are plenty of much easier ones vacant).
