‘Relentless, a force of nature, a tough lady’. That is Moya Greene, and we are truly excited to announce her as our July speaker. One of only four women to head a FTSE 100 company, Moya is currently the CEO of Royal Mail and a truly powerful woman.

Moya Greene was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Royal Mail in 2010. In 2013 she steered the UK’s 500-year old-postal service sector into the private sector, a task that many before her had tried but failed to do. Throughout the process, Mrs Greene was noticed for her tenacity – in building a relationship with the labour unions, in persuading the government and the regulators to ease the constraints on Royal’s Mail’s pricing policy, in delivering modernisation.

A Canadian in the UK, Moya was previously the CEO of Canada Post where she undertook an extensive transformation programme, significantly improving the profitability of the business. She was also a senior officer in three multinational companies: at TD Securities, the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Bombardier. At Bombardier, for example, she was charged with turning around operations in Europe: she closed 7 factories and cut 8,000 jobs. Ms. Greene has a strong track record in complex negotiations, strategic planning and relationship building – ‘she focuses her stare on something and goes for it… beware if you are in the way’ – say industry experts.

Greene was the second of four children born to a special-education teacher and a hardware shop owner in St John’s, Newfoundland, on Canada’s eastern tip. She studied classics at university in Canada, after which she went onto Law School in Toronto. In her free time, Moya likes to read poetry, including Robert Frost and Ted Hughes. Interestingly, Moya also has a daughter, who is in her twenties and lives in Canada.

Having met Moya previously, she is a true ‘a bundle of energy’. We cannot wait to hear about her impressive achievements, career tips and anecdotes from the Boardroom and we hope that you will join us!

You mean voluntary redundancy thus fewer postmen (and women) and increased lapsing for those posties who were once on a good thing many years ago and are now stretched to the very limits every day???


Maybe the runners and those who work their day/s off can sustain the future of our company? Somehow I doubt it though....And I strongly feel that this may just be the last term that the Iron Lady has in office. Maybe she should take up ski-ing back in the Canadian Rockies as her career is all downhill from here!

Actually to be fair to her most of the stuff that's happening (except AFG) is a result of the Uber Overlords Leighton and Crozier, she is just carrying on their master plan. I think she is out of touch with the front line, but it almost certainly not getting the full unabridged details of the reality that we face daily. That's partly her fault, but also the fault of the management style and system, after all it takes a lot of energy to turn a ship that's being going in the same direction for 20 years now.
