HI!Can anyone please tell me what the rules for wearing high viz in the hot weather is ?tx!

Key phrase being "reasonably practical"

I'm short wear it for five minutes in the yard then off when on delivery.

If you're working in the yard near vehicles all day it has to be worn but take as many hydration breaks as u need to.

There's no maximum working temperature under UK heasth and safety but there are provisions for more breaks.

You are legally obliged to make your own risk assessment of potential h&s risks. So do that and act accordingly.
I wouldn't wear the boil in the bag vests in this weather. If you keel over management will say it's your fault for not taking the heat into account.

There is NO documentation Post Revision for you to wear HI-Vis, but common sense must prevail, as already mentioned in and around the Yard area (high impact) or working in or around vehicles in a densely, congested area, or even when their is inclement weather ie: fog,low cloud, torrential rain etc, the only documentation avialiable refers to bikes, unless someone can prove me wrong?????

Hi vis is not mandatory for the walking postman, only in some areas such as the yard or bad weather conditions . A lot of managers don't know this. My manager pulled me up about it on my walk the other week and when I said the last I heard it wasn't mandatory out on delivery, to be fair he was ok about it and told me the next day that he had looked into it and in fact I was correct. Low light and bad weather they have the right to enforce it but on the average day it's down to you.

I have found that in winter they have no thermal property's at all but in summer they have.
