The fact you scanned it is not a defence in their eyes as a common way to circumvent the system is to use photo copies of the barcode and remotely scan it. If however you scanned it at the right time and were physically at the box that will be recorded on the PDA. As for not emptying the box fully only you can explain why on that front.

I've been saying it for a while but barcodes should be placed at the bottom of mail boxes underneath the mail, so you can only scan it after emptying it.

If you've knowingly done nothing wrong and this is a first time offence I would seek out the advice of your union rep who will help fight your corner.

the PDA data holds the time the box and your GPS location. You can ask for this information to prove them wrong.

One postman git suspended and sacked for scanning photocopied bar codes, he was caught out because the GPS showed that he was miles away from the boxes.

If your PDA GPS proves you were there, as to not emptying the box only you know the answer.

I like the idea of a bar code at the bottom of the box it's a good way to cover yourself.
