Ihr timescale?

Once you have been told by OH that you meet the criteria for IHR the process is pretty quick. Don't be surprised if it happens within a month. Make sure you keep badgering your DOM and ask OH to send you copies of every meeting/ phone call.
Take the money and run pal, that's my advice and I will see you in a few years time when we are all suing the company for health related issues, just like the miners when the Tories destroyed their industry.

If it's been agreed and you and the DOM are in agreement, it can take less than a week

Only having glanced through the agreement I can't see anything in principle against this, but as with most cases involving health/EA its better to get advice from either the Union or someone with a background in employment law/HR. You can in fact ecven having gone through IHR apply for a job with RM later, but they give no time limits on it.

Your only gubbed if you get immediate pension

If like me you get ihr lump sum and no pension your are understood to be able to retrain eventually or recover

But study the wording as it really matters.

If you're taking IHR with lump sum, there's nothing at all stopping you from getting another job elsewhere straight away. I know someone who got new employment 2 weeks after taking IHR.
However if you want to return to RM within a certain timescale(off hand I can't remember how long), you may have to pay some of the money back.

You need to be incapable of doing the job anymore.

medically of course. There are progression options for those that are intellectually incapable.

If you're no longer capable of doing your normal delivery role, can you be forced to do a similar role (ie collections) or have to accept reduced hours? I have arthritis and feel my best option is IHR.
