Paid of on medical ground?
Just a question , if an employee is paid of on medical grounds and is still very young and after only worked around 7 years with the company, how will other employers see this? will they be able to get another job? or would they have been better to resign b4 royal mail pensioned them of? just curious.

depends entirely on the individuals long term recovery, medical retirement is not the end of someones working life.
merely at this time rm see no immediate return to work and therefore offer terms ,take the money and run, if someones not fit to work better taking a payoff, than dismissed under the attendance procedure,

they will find it hard to get another job who would touch them. if they are covered under the dda then royal mail have a duty of care towards that employee and should seek redeployment first before they kick him on the scrap heap. never jump let rm push you, why walk away without the cash.

BAD EMPLOYER-BAD REPUTATION
RM is a problem with able -bodied people with Employers as it's got such a bad reputation ( well I never!) , if someone's covered by DDA ,they'd be better off going for say council/other public sector work as you can get at least a guaranted interview , the PCS/Unison/GMB tend to be recognized and there's less of this dated 80/90's Union Bashing war of attrition .marky wrote:they will find it hard to get another job who would touch them. if they are covered under the dda then royal mail have a duty of care towards that employee and should seek redeployment first before they kick him on the scrap heap. never jump let rm push you, why walk away without the cash.
The best example was when Leighton went on R2's Jeremy Vine and someone's missus rang up :lfo & said my husband was a professonial person , been to Uni had Vocational Qualifications but got made redundant and his attempts to get away from Royal Fail have ended up in failure as basically you employ a lot of numpties . Leighton said we've had trouble with this caller before -bet it was put another record on Jeremy quick ! :lfo :lfo
For DDA people there is Charity Sector firms like Shaw Trust who've taken the place of the dreadful DHSS stereotypes like Pauline of The League of Gentlemen series . Socially, the consensus of opinion with these people is that RM has a bad reputation . Some NHS staff have a low opinion of Royal Mail( can't think why !)
The other horror stories about RM , I've heard is RM managers can make things difficult for people with benefit agencies , the usual they're all malingerers , old soldiers working thier ticket etc and that's purely to impress up to :lfo level and typically defensive RM doesn't want ex staff telling tales , they like the s**t to stay under the carpet .
