I'd rather not in all honesty, that particular fight has been lost long ago IMO.

I would though if the membesrship voted for IA.

Sorry, that ship has long since sailed already, IMO. Why put up a fight over a done deal almost 2 years old?

Moot question now. It was minority public-owned from the initial share issue, so technically the status hasn't changed.

The thing to beware of though is it is now easier for a financed hostile takeover from the likes of TNT to be facilitated via a share-buying campaign - then I'd be out if there was a vote.

I think a strike against privatisation would be deemed a "political" strike and would be illegal.
The union would have all their funds sequestered and would probably cease to exist.
All the current agreements with the legally binding terms and conditions would be ripped up.
It would have to be a last roll of the dice scenario and not one I could see this (or any other) union even contemplating.

* Come in before the start time of their duty

You tag this onto a lot of posts SP, it's mostly irrelevant since we've always had the above, any employer that actively encourages job&finish does....

Perfect example of why the union is now laughed at by management. Everyman for himself!
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

Why should reps bother balloting stuff when too many staff are doing them things?

A law is only a law when/where its enforceable. What you gonna do - imprison 100k posties ?

motherhubbard wrote:The union would have all their funds sequestered

- could easily be (pre-emptively) prepared for and avoided...
motherhubbard wrote:..and would probably cease to exist.

No it wouldn't.

motherhubbard wrote:All the current agreements with the legally binding terms and conditions would be ripped up.
All the current agreements are worth zero anyway, once we go completely private.

Call me old fashioned, but I can't help but feel that the CWU's conspicuous lack of a response to this latest development is completely selling its own members short...

..again.

Because as a rep you are there to represent all members, not just certain groups you may or may not want to.
