Rumours has it ... this year some time ...E V R for 4000 - 5000 staff for all across the board ? due to some kind of efficiency drive ? any more info please ?? I am not sure mail centres only or as I mentioned for all departments ?

I'm not sure how much more can be cut unless as mentioned full time to be replaced by part time although I thought this wasn't allowed. I suppose there are ways around it though.

the way there get round it is that with voluntary redundancies the job and work is still there so replace with part timers , but with compulsory redundancies the job and work has gone so they cant employ anybody to do it.

The last round of redundancies were because the Regulator and major corporate investors were demanding more 'efficiencies' by reducing headcount, which was supposed to be done before the end of the financial year.
I expect they will be doing the same in the current financial year, and as the proposed sale of remaining shares will be to corporate investors, they are going to have even more clout.

It doesn't matter what shareholders demand, delivering to every address is labour intensive. No matter how efficient you are even the fastest runner can only deliver to one house at a time. You only have to work your hours and no more. We already struggle to finish somedays so bring on the cuts. The end result will be a loss of business which will hit the shareholders in the pocket, we are already going to take more hits.

I can see it happening if they stick to their programme. According to their investor presentation online majority of mail centres will have packet machines and I have heard if they are a successful some might get 2.

I think we have to wait for the outcome of the review into the MTSF Agreement. Might get worse terms, but there again if they want to get rid of people they might keep he same terms or even improve them, though I would think an improvement is unlikely. But they did offer PILON to those whose VR/EVRs were agreed by 25 March this year.

Cant see them reducing the EVR package, if they need people to go. There was a few posties in my office that said no to it.

On the MC side of things,any FT staff who have retired,been sacked,or left for whatever reason have not been replaced for many years now.
What tends to happen is at the start of shift the managers work out the hours needed to clear the shift and then any hours needed and cover these hours with causals.

It won't be long before causals outnumber the FT staff,let alone PT...
