A new fleece, cagoule and gilet have been trialled and tested by 600 employees at South-Midlands mail centre, and are now under review ready for rollout.

Cagoule

The new cagoule is designed to scrunch up and stow, so you can keep it close to hand on delivery or collection in case it rains. It’s grey with red detailing.

Post woman Kaye Folwell said: ‘I’ve had some positive comments on the street from customers. The colour is good as it goes better with the trousers. It’s big enough to wear over a fleece, but I found the sizing different, so people may need to order a smaller size than they’re used to.’

Fleece

Volunteers in the latest wearer survey said the current fleece gets dirty quickly, especially around the cuffs. The new fleece is made of a ‘softshell’ material that stays cleaner for longer.

Postman Terry Luff said: ‘It’s good that it’s lightweight. Because it’s not the same fleece fabric, it will take a bit of getting used to – but should last longer.’

Gilet

The new gilet is being tested in a similar colour as the fleece.

Postman Mohamed Rahim said: ‘I wore the gilet for a few days. I liked the colour and the fit and it’s very comfortable.’
