Our picture shows (l-r) delivery office manager Peter Kelly, CWU rep Geoff Hughes and workplace coach Lee Humphries.

One of the first units to take part in the latest revisions process was the North West delivery office in Manchester. Over the course of 12 weeks, the revisions manager worked with managers, postmen and women and the CWU to see how the unit could become more efficient. .

The revisions manager was based in the delivery office throughout, helping to build working relationships between everyone involved.

CWU rep Geoff Hughes said: ‘The revisions manager was much more visible on the floor and people were able to talk to him directly. This was an open door process.’

Colleague workplace coach Lee Humphries, said: ‘This revision was different because all employees had the opportunity to have an input. Their first-hand knowledge of their walks was invaluable and they worked with the revisions manager to make the changes.’

Understanding the need for change was also key. Delivery office manager Peter Kelly said: ‘Our CWU rep was instrumental in helping people to understand the end game.’

Having an impact

Since the revision, there are early indications that the unit is operating more efficiently.

Mark Dudgeon, delivery sector manager, said: ‘Initial results show that the unit is working more efficiently and gross hours are reducing.’

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I know a local office to ours was "going live" on a new revision based on lower mail volumes in the days of whisl collapse and it was chaos due to walks made bigger LOL

Well done North West DO. :Applause If you are so efficient, why do you keep borrowing people from other offices to cover walks. Yes people, not 'bodies' as you like to call them. Really grinds my gears when we are referred to as 'bodies'. :no no

12 weeks?
Our office(which isn't that far away from this office) has been under going a revision for at least 12 months now and it's still fecked!

Oh and that Dudgeon(Dungeon is where he should be!) chappie wasn't he heavily involved in that Musa case in Blackburn he should have been sacked instead of getting a promotion to DSM. :no no
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Or the more patronising, "our people" . Now that really irritates.
I do wonder sometimes when I read this propaganda, sorry, informative article, do these people talk in cliches at home as well as at work. How dull are they?
