Favouritism - is it in your office?

Just thought if ask because favouritism is rife at my office, people who rush round and do overtime are always put on easy walks so they can do more overtime early. Managers sons and friends or ex managers looked after with easy docket and annual leave. Just wondering if it's just my office or the favouritism in this company gets on other peoples tits too.

I cut off due to childcare and I'm kept on one of the biggest rounds in our office and feel like I'm being pushed out, whilst others get it really easy

At the end of the day managers want to see the mail out the door.I take my collapse come rain or shine so get a pick of a decent duty each week so I can mop up the failed mail.I get some ghost and the gaffer gets to go home on time.Its a win win situation not favourtism!

It's win for you but not win for the people who don't brown nose managers I'm afraid.

?? it's a well known fact every duty is the same

but yeah, some in ours get an extra 60-90 mins per day prep time than most.

Some in ours get given a van to cover a hct duty so they can get back early to do more overtime

Is alive and well in our office, and growing in stature. Whilst the employer is allowed to get the staff to work 'flexibly' with few guidelines then some will always shaft others.

but what if they are supposed to be, and paid for to be sorting ips but left to their own devices? a few are exempt from doing ips,
thus making those who "don't get looked after" later off sorting and later out, then face the interrogation of why you can't complete?
these people know it but choose to carry on because they're looked after

most days i walk in and these are doing their households whilst others are still sorting mail/packets
there is an "us & them" amongst posties now never mind the management, which is sad, and our union does nothing, and i've raised the matter.
an old manager once said "nobody leaves until every duty is fully prepped"
that lasted about 22 minutes

Managers aren't going to enforce a policy of no one leaves until every round is prepped because it penalises people that are more efficient, you can't expect someone to bale someone out because they're crap at prepping. And people who walk quicker shouldn't be expected to help someone who moves at the pace of a human slug!

As for favourites in a office its always going to happen if someone's willing to go the extra mile(literally) and do overtime they're going to be treated better than someone who putting obstacles in the managers way causing him grief

But that's the way it should be. I've been at my current DO for 11 years and it used to be that if you were prepped and ready to leave but saw someone else struggling then you'd help them out.
If being more efficient leads to more work being given to you as you obviously have more time available then that's fair isn't it?

Again if your finishing early and have the time to help someone who is struggling, your saying you shouldn't have to help them?

Going the extra mile just leads to one thing - more and more work added to your daily workload.
Then when that extra becomes too much for you, it will be you that's moves at the pace of a human slug!

Yes there will always be the favourites. Those that think coming in early for free,racing round everyday and grabbing as much OT as possible is great. But they are simply ruining the job for everyone else.
It usually boils down to the whole 'f**k you, i'm alright jack' attitude.
Well make the most of it, because eventually it will be you that is actually working properly and moaning about it.

Who said that I don't work properly? I don't do overtime myself but if I'm not up to speed on my prep I wouldn't expect someone else to help me out and half the people I've worked with in the past 20 years would prep slower just so the could have an easier life with other people helping them
