This week I ,have become aware of a number of small independent newly formed small independent Companies all over the country ,seeking either self employed drivers or Self employed owner drivers hiring VW Transporter vans, delivering 100+drops a day For Amazon, based on a fixed 10 hour day, job till Finnish regardless.
Apparently you start at 8.00 (seems weird as you catch all the traffic.)

Everything is routed for you and comes up on the sat nav and meant to take you to within a meter of front door,
They are saying how much easier it is than Yodel and Parcel force, having heard so much about how Amazon treats it warehouse staff, i am very sceptical about claims that this work is almost idiot proof and so easy!

Does anyone know anyone who has done delivery work only for Amazon ,and how achievable is a 100 drops a day especially in rural areas?

They are paid £100 a day, out of that £100 you have to pay for the van, fuel, your tax and other contributions (even on your day off you pay for the van)

This is what the local Amazon guy said, he quit it after 3 weeks

Not very good pay as it means say 250 pounds on expenses a week and it is only about 75 pounds per day before tax.

I've also heard that they don't get sick pay or any holidays either, and they've also got to pay for van repairs themselves, as well as servicing and MOTs.
No doubt someone will correct me on any of this.

I think it is better to have 3 people working together with 2 vans so that way it can earn money on day off. 14/3 which means 2 people can do 5 days and one can do 4 days on rotation and also be able to cover for each other on sick/holiday.

But there's plenty others that will do work for what amounts to about the minimum wage.

DPD have been employing self employed (Franchise) drivers to work alongside their own PAYE staff for some time.

Easy fellas just thought I'd chime into this chat seeing as I'm about to start work with Amazon logistics soon. They pay £100 a day and also pay 20p per mile for fuel. The parcel amount will probably be up to about 150 a day and you finish when you've done the round. They supply you with a brand new van for £20 a day which is maintained by the rental company including tax and mot and you're expected to work 6 days a week. Even though it's a self employed basis they use an umbrella company to pay your wages and deduct tax but also help you claim back expenses and vat etc. they also offer bonuses as a collective and depending on how many 'strikes' (complaints) you get against your name. It works out to about £60 a week extra. From the offset it sounds alright I guess especially if you own you're own van so you save £120 a week but to be honest I'm not very optimistic about the whole thing. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I've been souring the net to find reviews or feedback from drivers but to no avail. I start I'm about 2 weeks after an induction next week.

Drone in the sky idea


Have heard in America that Amazon are thinking of using Drones to deliver packages. It will deliver books, blu rays and well hopefully everything. Amazon submitted their patent application last September and has tested the idea in Canada. It claims that it is not 'Science Fiction' and aims to get their packages in the customers hands to within 30 minutes or less!!

if amazons 3 strikes rule is the same as for them in the warehouse, then id be abit worried. one thing id like to know, will deductions be made to your wage / payments withhled for non delivery of an item. i saw an amazon parcel wedge between a doorhandle today facing a busy main street. ppl want first time delivery but some their 'safe places' are silly
