MRM: University bursary scheme is now open

This year's university bursary scheme is now open for applications. Forty bursaries are available from the Post Office Orphans Benevolent Institution (POOBI), each worth £1,500 a year for up to three years – the highest amount that’s ever been offered.

The bursaries are available to sons and daughters of Royal Mail and Post Office Limited employees to help with university costs.

There’s also an additional £300 grant this year for people heading off to university for the first time, to help with the initial costs students face.

The bursaries don’t need to be repaid providing the terms and conditions are met.

As well as university costs, bursaries are also available for vocational training under POOBI’s apprenticeship scheme, and there’s a Rising Stars grant for young people with a talent in dance, drama, music, film or sport.

Applications need to be made to POOBI by 15th June 2015.
