one day D2D election material

Some areas have it scheduled for next Tuesday, Some areas in fife have one for Tuesday and another for Wednesday.
One day, everything must go, no payment.

Anybody else had this, what was the response from your union bods and how did you get on?

We get 3 days for addressed and 7 days for unaddressed. One day, everything must go, great, very very busy managers out delivering it all.

everything has to be delivered by Next Wednesday as by law political parties can't post anything on the day of the election itself.
same as they can't be seen campaigning or show their party political broadcasts on the day of election.

if they have paid proper pricing on their flyers ie: 1st / second class then they will expect them to be handled like normal mail and will have paid RM for the privilege, so a payment may not be forthcoming to the postie delivering. << this is just an educated guess as everything else we have delivered has had zero posting or franks on them.

It's a D2D, I've seen it, it's already in the affected offices marked for delivery Tuesday 5th of May.

If you have time deliver it, if you don't then you hold all the aces. We couldn't handle those in our office on a tuesday as it is a short day and we struggle to finish anyway as it is the heaviest for specials. We would all cut off.

How are they changing the rules?
The possibility of day specific D2D was first mooted back 2010.

Our Dom kept on emphasising that these one day D2D were agreed by the CWU- so no arguments!

This will be good, first day back after a bank holiday, which are always heavy weeks anyway. Prepare for major overtime, major cut-offs and/or seriously heavy Weds-Sat (if RM hold back "flats" even by simply not getting all IPS sorted)... Even without work time learning (if your one day D2D comes on Tuesday).

Office manager called a meeting this morning about it. We have one day D2D for Labour, scheduled for next Tuesday and a further D2D for the Wednesday. Both are time specific because of the message in them, "48 hours to save the NHS" and "24 hours to save the NHS", or so we were told.

Our manager began the meeting by apologising for this happening.

Because it is a D2D we do not get an election material payment for it.

It must be delivered that day.

Overtime will be paid for those who want it.

Extra staff will be brought in for those that wish to work their hours.

That's what we were told.

That not good no payment, I think one day D2d should demand premium rate as we will have to work extremely hard to get it all done. Look like a crazy week for postal workers next week.

The D2D postings for next tue/wed appear to be geographical specific, not all areas/regions will have this posting,
Mngt were sent out a brief on mon i believe with the areas/regions attached,
this is going to be a 100% call rate for this mailing, on a normal tue it could be argued that there is some capacity for this, but WED, no way hozay and all this after a B/Hol, resourses are gonna be stretched to the max on this one and budgets blown
Also no guidance from CWU, all gone to conference
