General election postal votes

I don't know about other areas but in my area postal voters are given a freepost envelope to send in their ballot paper. This envelope has an address window, so the voter has to put the contents in facing the right way so that the local authority address appears in the window. Some of them appear unable to do this, even sometimes inserting the contents so their own name and address appear in the window. So today I had a couple of these in my sequenced trays. Spoke to a manager who handed it to freepost duty. Technically is this right? Surely we should deliver it back to the voter!

Undemocratic. Even the voting process is being affected by the country's obsession with the bottom line (in envelopes). We shouldn't be involved in a flawed ballot process.

If they can't use an envelope properly then their vote isn't valid. Simple.

This happened in my neck of the woods a couple of years ago... the result of badly designed "returns" envelopes. We all know where the envelope is meant to go... to the count The Returning Officer (local council official) in my area ensured there was a redesign of "return envelopes"... and this anomaly doesn't happen anymore
