enhanced saturdays

Post by tiredpostie »

I wish to know if once enhanced Saturdays are given to us they can be taken away . I was under the impression that the 2010 agreement gave a commitment to give us more Saturdays . In our revision the rota we agreed on included 2 in 6 . Now the management want to change this because it doesn't suit them . Can anyone give any advice ?

Took ours away only recently. Management ran staffing levels into the ground then insisted massive failures of rounds not getting out on Saturdays was purely to do with the enhanced Saturdays and nothing to do with having no staff! :Sick

It seems that management can do what it likes now.

Union absolutely no help whatsoever, they just seem to be another branch of management. They even came into our office and stood next to area managers to help push it through!
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

You have agreed 2 in 6 so that is what you do,only another revision can change that or executive action.I'm guessing your rep and area rep are on the case?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

They are talking of another revision but only tweeking some of the rounds . We have 9 different rotations in our office and they want to streamline them , but they are talking of longer days on some duties ..think we work long enough now . It doesn't seem fair that they say have more Saturdays then take them off us

B&T committed the business to plan more Saturdays off and the menu of options was a guide on how to achieve.

Since then the business has ignored the resourcing agreement (Stoke) and used weak arguments to take away any duty sets that provide more sats off.

The speak from CWU HQ would be for the local rep to follow the framework and trusts both area and divisional reps also keep to the agreement.

Because we have managers that don't adhere to any national agreements, I believe should be tackled by HQ and from memory HQ were committed to review the introduction of more sats off as part of B&T. Although when I see such words in an agreement it normally means your on your own.

In my office they have tried the same tricks and I simple say to them, they can use the I/R framework if they disagree with the duty sets and explain how this is in breach of the B&T agreement.

Remember change has to be agreed under the ground breaking world class super national agreement or something similar me thinks? :cuppa
